Local Raw Materials Support

SBL is mainly dependent on agricultural produce for beer production. In the financial year 2020/2021 SBL sourced over 20,000 metric tons of grains locally equivalent to 70% of its annual raw materials requirement.

The vision is to reach 85% in the financial year 2024/2025. Agribusiness supports over 400 farmers in eight regions, significantly promoting their social and economic wellbeing. The LRM potential growing regions are Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, Dodoma, lake regions, Singida, and the southern highlands.

Through the program, SBL provides high-quality seeds to farmers free of charge and links them to financial institutions to acquire the capital needed for large-scale farming and suppliers of fertilizers and other farming inputs.

In return, the company buys all the produce from the farmers enabling them to repay borrowed capital. This has positively impacted the farmers’ living standards and those of their dependents.
