Black & White

Black & White (B&W) is a blended Scotch whisky.

This iconic blend from James Buchanan has its roots in his Buchanan blended Scotch factory in the 1880’s. Black & White is a blended Scotch whisky. For aspiring whisky experts, the simplest way to enjoy your whisky is neat, cleansing your palate with cool water between sips.

Some people also add a few drops of water to their whisky, which can open-up the flavors as the liquids combine. Experiment to see what works for you; but go slowly. Don't add too much water at once.

Black & White was adorned with a simple presentation to stand out on the shelf, a black bottle with a crisp white label. This affectionately became known as Black & White, and Buchanan took advantage of this reference by placing it upon the label.

Buchanan was also a keen animal lover, and the iconic Scottish Terriers (a type of small dog presents on the &W Bottle label) were inspired by a trip to a dog show where the Scottish Terrier and West Highland terriers were winners. In the 1890s the two Scottish terriers joined the label to create the presentation we all know today. They have symbolized the brand’s scotch quality & charm ever since!
