Overview

As part of our Spirit of Progress our ambition is to create the most inclusive and diverse environment that ensures all our people thrive, supported by market leading policies and practices; whilst also removing barriers and having a positive impact on our partners, suppliers and communities.

How we champion inclusion and diversity

Our position on inclusion and diversity is industry-leading, not just because it is the right thing to do, but because we believe this allows us to find and retain the best talent, achieve better performance, and have a greater impact on society.

Building an inclusive business and hospitality sector

Through our Learning for Life initiative, a business and hospitality skills programme for those seeking employment in hospitality industries related to our business. It aims to increase participants' employability and livelihoods and support a thriving business and hospitality sector that works for all.

  • We have awarded over 300 fully funded scholarships to students pursuing diploma courses in agriculture. To achieve our sponsorship objectives, we've partnered with four colleges nationwide: Kaole Wazazi College of Agriculture in Bagamoyo District, Kilacha Agricultural and Livestock Training Centre in Moshi, Igabiro Training Institute of Agriculture, and Mt. Maria Goretti College of Agriculture in Iringa. These institutions provide valuable training opportunities for our scholarship recipients.
  • In partnership with the National College of Tourism, we have trained over 100 youth in hospitality. The program equips students with specialized business knowledge, practical hospitality skills, and valuable hands-on experience, significantly enhancing their employability and supporting Tanzania's economic growth. Additionally, we facilitate internship placements within the hospitality sector and provide practical mixology training through our Bar Academy.
  • We partner with the Foundation for Disability Hope to deliver comprehensive training focused on income-generating activities and entrepreneurial skills within the agriculture value chain. The program empowers persons with disabilities (PWDs) by equipping them with practical business knowledge, market-ready agricultural techniques, and financial literacy skills. This initiative has enabled participants to improve their livelihoods, achieve greater financial independence, and actively contribute to their communities and the broader economy.
Our inclusive communities approach

Our inclusive communities approach means ensuring that 50% of beneficiaries are women and that our community programmes are designed to enhance diversity and inclusion of underrepresented groups.

  • We have trained over 50 women on a gender inclusive Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programmes. Through the WASH program, women were empowered to operate and manage water supply services as well as participate in decision-making forums in their communities.
  • In collaboration with Sightsavers and CARE UK, we have trained over 200 women and persons with disabilities in agronomy and agribusiness. This initiative delivers a triple-win impact by improving the livelihoods and economic empowerment of smallholder farmers, Increasing the quality of raw materials in our products for our customers and consumers, and ensuring a sustainable and secure supply chain for our business.
